The UpTo Date mobile app is an excellent resource for healthcare providers to access current information relevant to clinical practice. Over 30 research studies have been conducted confirming that clinical decision-making supported by usage of UpToDate is associated with improved patient and institutional outcomes.

This app's provision of evidence-based clinical information relates to the AACN's Essential Competency I:Background for Practice from Sciences and Humanities. It "integrates scientific findings from nursing, biopsychosocial fields, genetics, public health, quality improvement, and organizational sciences for the continual improvement of nursing care across diverse settings."
