American Association of Nurse Practitioners

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners empowers Nurse Practitioners to advance quality health care through practice, education, advocacy, research, and leadership.  Its website provides clinical resources, information on federal, state, and local advocacy efforts, recent legislative changes that impact the profession, as well information on national conferences relevant to APRN practice.

Each of the Nine Essential Competencies outlined by the AACN are developed and advanced largely through membership in professional organizations such as the AANP.  As healthcare is an ever-evolving industry, APRNs need to stay abreast of relevant changes so that they can continuously improve clinical practice.
